SEOUL, July 22 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea Virtual Reality (VR) Industry Association announced on July 21 that a new virtual reality café named ‘VR Plus Show Room’ will open on July 22 in Seoul’s most urbane business and shopping district – Gangnam.

In order to promote the VR industry, ‘VR Plus Show Room’ will offer VR content free of charge for an undetermined period.

The new café is a fusion of an Internet café, a coffee shop, and a VR experience venue. Built in a 220 square-meter space, ‘VR Plus Show Room’ will hold 102 regular gaming desktops, four Oculus Rift VR headsets, four HTC Vives as well as a HMD (head-mounted display) and VR simulator.

The Korea VR Industry Association also plans on participating in the Franchise Entrepreneurship Fair that will take place next month at COEX to introduce the VR Plus café, seeking more business opportunities for VR content.

“It will be a great opportunity for those who want to experience high-tech VR content, which can be a little bit pricy for young people,” said Kim Hong-seok of the Korea VR Industry Association.

“We will create a network with companies in the service industry and hope the new venue will become a place for information exchange,” said Kim Jae-cheol, director of the café.

The new VR café will be situated near Gangnam Station’s exit 1.
