SEOUL, Feb. 1 (Korea Bizwire)The South Korean unit of German carmaking giant Volkswagen AG has put a stop to all new car sales, igniting consumer complaints.

According to industry sources, Volkswagen Korea asked dealers to temporarily suspend the release of all types of its cars last week without informing them of the reason.

Included in the list of the models affected by the order are the Tiguan compact SUV, Touareg SUV, Golf compact car and Arteon sedan.

Accordingly, some models scheduled to be delivered to local consumers still remain at showrooms.

Volkswagen Korea said that it temporarily delayed the release of all types of cars upon request from German headquarters, adding that warning triangles on Volkswagen cars were found to have failed to meet standards.

Volkswagen Korea said “Although we are not legally obligated to include warning triangles as part of the vehicle, drivers should keep one inside the vehicle under the Road Traffic Law,” adding that it will do its best to resume sales from the middle of this month.
