Volvo Korea Opens Pop-Up Store Cafe ‘The House of Sweden’

SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — A Swedish cultural café led by Volvo Car Korea opened in Garosugil, Sinsa-dong on January 22. ‘The House of Sweden,’ is a pop-up store by Volvo Car Korea that showcases Volvo’s brand history and identity and several cultural activities regarding Swedish culture.

Visitors can have a taste of Sweden’s unique coffee culture concept called ‘Fika,’ Sweden’s car, cooking, fashion, music and interior culture. Several Swedish brands, such as high-end camera brand Hasselblad, outdoor brand Haglöfs, Absolut Vodka and Swedish restaurant Hemlagat, have also participated in the café project to showcase their own versions of Swedish culture.

The pop-up store runs for three months up to April 21. Volvo Car Korea is exhibiting S60 sports sedan and SUV Cross Country on the ground level of the cafe. ‘Fika,’ a coffee chain specializing the Swedish coffee, is operating a coffee shop. Volvo’s ‘Heritage Room’ and a room of Swedish furniture are on the first floor while the showcase room for Swedish brands is on the base level.

Entertaining Swedish cultural activity programs will be held regularly. ‘Swedish Fika Time,’ starting from every 15:00 PM, is a first-served giveaway event of coffee beans and a set of Swedish dessert. Cafe visitors can also participate in workshops on the Swedish interior style, photography, vodka cocktails and many other themes.

‘Vodka Time’ is a giveaway event of bottles of vodka by the order of arrival on weekend evenings. ‘Cuisine Day’ is a twice in a month brunch giveaway prepared by a Swedish Chef, which can be reserved through Volvo Car Korea’s facebook page. A Swedish music party will be also held on the upcoming Valentine’s Day.

Visitors at the cafe can also have an opportunity of winning a travel package of four North European countries, a trial ride of Volvo Cross Country, a 1 million won(US$ 920) worth fueling gift card, Hasselblad’s stellar ii camera and many others.
