SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Volvo Cars Korea announced on Monday the official launch of the EX30, its premium electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), in the South Korean market.

The EX30, which sold nearly 100,000 units globally last year, emerged as the best-selling premium electric vehicle (EV) in Europe among non-EV-exclusive brands, with 78,032 units delivered across the region.

Built on a rear-wheel-drive platform, the EX30 features a 66-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery and a 200-kilowatt motor, producing 272 horsepower and a peak torque of 35 kg·m.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.3 seconds and offers a driving range of 351 kilometers per charge, based on South Korea’s environmental ministry standards.

Volvo’s latest safety technology in the EX30 has earned it the highest rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), reinforcing its reputation for safety and innovation.

The vehicle was initially set for release in South Korea last year but faced delays due to software enhancements. To compensate for the postponement, Volvo Cars Korea has announced price reductions of up to 3.33 million won  from previously stated figures. The EX30 Core trim is now priced at 47.55 million won, while the Ultra trim costs 51.83 million won.

“We have adjusted the price so that more customers can experience the value of the EX30,” said Lee Yoon-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea. “This reflects the growing importance of the Korean market, and the pricing is competitive even by global standards.”

With its launch, Volvo aims to capture a greater share of South Korea’s rapidly expanding EV market while reinforcing its position as a leading premium automaker.
