SEOUL, Sept. 5 (Korea Bizwire)Hundreds of virtual reality companies from both home and abroad gathered in Seoul on Wednesday to showcase the latest VR technologies that can impact ordinary lives now and in the future.

The Korea VR Festival 2018, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, kicked off for a five-day run at the Sangam Digital Media Complex business district in western Seoul, bringing together nearly 210 VR manufacturers and suppliers.

Earlier, the South Korean government announced that it will push to nurture the VR sector to narrow the technology gap with the United States, the market leader, by 2020.

The government said it will spend a total of 400 billion won ($360 million) by 2020 as it moves to consolidate research and development efforts by various firms and government institutions.
