BUSAN, Aug. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – A device that can help to track down people that are lost at sea has been developed.
The Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration announced that they have developed a wearable device that can be used to locate people at beaches and in mud if any kind of accident were to happen.
The device automatically transmits the location of the victim, and sends out SOS signals so that they can be rescued quickly.
The wearable tracking device was developed because there have been times when accident victims have been hard to locate, leading to difficulties in the rescue process.

The KHOA is planning to continue the development of related devices so that drones can send life jackets to victims when tracking devices send out an alert. Also, they plan to downsize the device so that it can be attached to life jackets on coastal liners, and they also hope to enable a voice communication function.
The devices can be borrowed for free at Haeundae beach until August 9.
