SEOUL, March 26 (Korea Bizwire) — Two Korean original works on Netflix topped the global weekly charts, the streaming platform said Wednesday.
“When Life Gives You Tangerines” claimed the No. 1 spot on the non-English series chart for the week ending Sunday, garnering 5.5 million views.
The nostalgic drama spans over 60 years in the lives of its main couple on the southern island of Jeju: Ae-sun, a spirited rebel played by IU and Moon So-ri, and the steadfast Gwan-sik, played by Park Bo-gum and Park Hae-joon, with the latter actors portraying their older selves.
Since its premiere March 7, the series has earned positive reviews for its heartwarming narrative, bringing both laughter and tears, as it follows the couple’s unwavering resilience through life’s hardships.
Meanwhile, the mystery thriller “Revelations,” starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-bin, debuted at No. 1 on the non-English films chart, amassing 5.7 million views.
It is the latest work by director Yeon Sang-ho, a familiar name to Netflix fans through his previous collaborations with the company on the hit series “Hellbound” and “Parasyte: The Grey.”
The story revolves around a pastor and a detective, each driven by their own beliefs, as they pursue a missing person case that forces them to confront their own demons.
