WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2014 (Korea Bizwire) – With a deep knowledge of cybersecurity programs and capabilities, Michael Daniel will share his unique insights on this increasingly relevant issue at National Association of Corporate Directors’ (NACD’s) annual Board Leadership Conference on Oct. 12-14 in Washington, D.C. As the special assistant to the president and the cybersecurity coordinator, Daniel leads and oversees the interagency development and implementation of national cybersecurity strategy and policy.

“Cybersecurity touches so much of our lives now that we need a rich and continuing dialogue that includes the broadest possible set of stakeholders,” Daniel said in a recent blog post. He added that cybersecurity “requires a holistic approach that takes into account human behaviors and economics, as well as the technical factors.”

Prior to joining the National Security Council staff, Daniel served for 17 years with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He has been heavily involved with federal cybersecurity activities, including the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative. He has extensive experience with cybersecurity funding issues and developing useful cyber performance metrics.

Daniel will join more than 160 distinguished speakers spanning nearly 100 sessions at NACD’s 2014 annual conference. In a keynote address, Daniel will discuss the broad cyber-threat landscape that companies face, the global trends he is following, and the administration’s priorities for addressing cyber threats. His speech will help set the context for discussions on effectively managing cybersecurity risk.

The NACD conference will also feature customized learning tracks, which include risk, compensation, nominating and governance, NACD Directorship 2020®, future trends, social media and technology, global disruptive forces, audit and regulatory, small-cap, private company, and story circles. In addition, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, attendees can participate in small group, peer-exchange roundtables organized by topic, key committee, industry, and organization type.

New offerings at this year’s conference include the Global Village, a gathering of international embassy officials and subject matter experts available to discuss governance and business opportunities in global markets; and an enhanced Social Media Lab, where attendees can learn about and engage with the latest trends and tools in social networking.
