SEOUL, Korea, April 23, 2014 (Korea Bizwire)A “Yellow Ribbon Campaign” is spreading out among Koreans who yearn for safe returns of the missing passengers who were on board of the capsized ferry “Sewol.”

The campaign started with an online posting in a community forum site, which urged people to put up a picture of ribbons on their social network service accounts such as KakaoTalk, Twitter and Facebook, in hopes of sound and quick comebacks of those who have gone missing when the ferry sank.

The posting had a picture of a black ribbon in the yellow background, with a heart-touching caption “small movements stack up to bring about a big miracle.”

A participant of the campaign said, “I have a lump in my throat whenever I see the heartrending accident on the news. I want to show even the littlest attention and the condolences to the tragic event by participating in the campaign.”

Another participant has pleaded for more to participate, as he said, “Let us show the grief-stricken families that they have our full support and sympathy.”

The campaign is sweeping through the nation as a growing number of people are partaking in it. As of April 23, a week has passed since the sinking of the ferry, confirmed casualties are 136 and 166 are still missing.
