SEOUL, March 10 (Korea Bizwire) — Wine sales have risen in South Korea following the coronavirus outbreak.
Shinsegae Department Store reported Monday that wine sales between Feb. 11-29 rose by 5.2 percent compared to last year.
Experts argue that the ‘social distancing’ that has developed since the start of the coronavirus outbreak and the increasing number of companies allowing employees to work from home have boosted wine sales.
It is unusual that wine sales would spike despite the overall plunge in sales at department stores and shopping malls following the coronavirus outbreak.
Shinsegae’s overall sales dropped by 15.8 percent between Feb. 1-25.
