SEOUL, Jun. 12 (Korea Bizwire)Health authorities and police in Gwangjin District had to deal with a woman in her fifties, isolated at her house as a MERS precaution, as she insisted on taking part in scheduled trip to China.

After a night full of persuasion from workers at the district Health Community Center, the woman finally understood the gravity of the situation and decided to cancel the trip.

The woman had received an order to stay isolated from the Songpa Health Community Center, as she was confirmed to have directly or indirectly contacted a MERS-infected patient.

However, she told to the district health center that she could not cancel the trip, and would be leaving for China on June 11.

Workers at the Gwangjin District Health Community Center called her from the evening of June 10 to June 11 to persuade her to cancel the trip.

However, the woman was not convinced and insisted on leaving for China.

The workers finally visited her house with five police officers, and continued persuading her. After 30 minutes of conversation, she eventually decided to cancel the trip.

The national agency responsible for managing the MERS situation has currently forbidden her from leaving the country.
