YONGIN, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – Yongin’s city government has announced plans to introduce a smart safety system in the region to prevent child negligence on nursery school buses.
City officials signed a business agreement on Tuesday with software company AVAD, a local foundation, and a nursery school association, to develop a monitoring system that keeps an eye on children.

The “Smart Sleeping Children Checking System” will be trialed on 200 vehicles, and managed by AVAD with financial support of 100 million won from the local government.
The system is designed to make sure that no child is left alone on a bus by requiring drivers and school teachers swipe their card on a NFC reader after checking the vehicle, a move that has been proven to help reduce instances of child negligence.

As a reminder, an alarm will go off if drivers and nursery school officials fail to swipe the card, and parents will also be able to view the real time whereabouts of their children via a smartphone app.
