SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Yonhap News Agency announced Tuesday that its news sharing service for the forthcoming PyeongChang Winter Olympics went into full operation.

South Korea’s key wire service formally opened the PyeongChang News Service Network (PNN) on Saturday. It allows overseas wire services that subscribe to PNN to share news on the Olympic Games, as well as other events happening on the Korean Peninsula, on a real-time basis.

PNN members have access to not only Yonhap’s articles, photos and video clips in Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Arabic and Spanish, but also those of fellow members, without signing separate agreements. Members can also upload their content on the platform without limitation.

The platform currently has 53 members — one in North America, five in Latin America, 19 in Europe, 16 in Asia, 7 in Africa and 5 in the Middle East.

Yonhap said it plans to use the platform even after the Olympics.

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games are scheduled for Feb. 9-25 in PyeongChang, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul in Gangwon Province, and the adjacent sub-host cities of Gangneung and Jeongseon.
