SEOUL, Jun. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Yonsei University has installed donation card readers on campus, which allow students to donate to the school by touching their card to the reader like a transportation card.
On Monday, the university reported that it has installed 10 donation-only card readers on its campus for the first time in South Korea.
If a student places a card on the reader, 10,000 won (US$8.45) will be donated to the school’s development fund.
Students can pay tributes to the school in various ways, including credit or debit cards, transportation cards and Samsung Pay.
When a donor takes a photo as a proof at the photo zone next to the card reader, and posts it on Instagram, the school will also present souvenirs through a separate selection.
Yonsei University plans to actively encourage students to make donations by installing donation card readers during school events.
Furthermore, the university introduced a donation system in which students automatically donate money to the school using ones’ school identification number as an account number, from the second semester of last year.
