SEOUL, Dec. 26 (Korea Bizwire) — President Yoon Seok-yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee on Saturday adopted one more guide dog that recently retired from the Samsung Guide Dog School in Yongin, south of Seoul.
The retired guide dog, named Saeromi, is a female labrador retriever born in Dec. 2013. She served as a guide dog for a visually impaired person since 2016.
In attendance at Saeromi’s adoption ceremony was Jin Min-kyeong, a “puppy walker” who cared for and trained Saeromi for one year when she was still a puppy, and Kim Han-sook, who was guided by Saeromi for six years.
The president and first lady currently live with five dogs and five cats at the presidential residence. Saeromi has become their 11th pet.
Yoon vowed during his visit to the guide dog school as a presidential candidate in January that he would adopt the guide dogs retiring from service.
