Yoon’s Approval Rating Dips to 13 Pct following Martial Law Chaos: Poll

SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Korea Bizwire)President Yoon Suk Yeol’s approval rating tumbled to a record low of 13 percent, a survey showed Friday, following public backlash over his martial law declaration.

According to the survey conducted by Gallup on 1,001 adults aged over 18 from Tuesday to Thursday, the positive assessment of Yoon’s performance fell 3 percentage points to 16 percent, the lowest since he took office in May 2022.

The negative assessments rose to a record high of 75 percent, with economic concerns cited by 19 percent of respondents and the handling of the martial law situation by 16 percent.

Support for the ruling People Power Party fell 5 percentage points from the previous week to 27 percent, while the figure for the main opposition Democratic Party gained 4 percentage points to 37 percent.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, with a confidence rate of 95 percent.
