CHANGWON, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — A group of young disabled musicians have become formal members of an orchestra set up by a local hospital.
Hanmaum Hospital in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province founded an orchestra by hiring a group of disabled musicians on Thursday.
The orchestra consists of 20 members, all of whom have a developmental disability or brain disorder.
All of the members are in their 20s, and they will work for five days a week and four hours a day. They will receive not only wages but also welfare benefits, including insurance.
The hospital said that it became the first Korean business to establish an orchestra fully consisting of disabled musicians.
The orchestra will perform shows in the lobby of the hospital during lunchtime every Wednesday for patients, their families and hospital employees.
