YouTube Most Used Mobile Platform in S. Korea: Data

SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire)Video streaming service YouTube has been the most used mobile app in South Korea for an entire year, industry data showed Wednesday.

The Google-owned mobile platform recorded 46.35 million monthly active users in November, maintaining its lead for 12 straight months in the country, according to the data from industry tracker IGAWorks.

KakaoTalk, the country’s top mobile messenger run by Kakao Corp., and leading portal Naver came in second and third, with 45.39 million users and 43.41 million users, respectively.

Google Chrome ranked fourth, followed by Google’s main search app and the e-commerce app Coupang at fifth and sixth place, respectively.

YouTube overtook KakaoTalk as the leading app in December 2023 and has maintained its lead since.

In terms of new downloads, the Chinese e-commerce app Temu was the most downloaded app in South Korea last month, with 1.08 million new installations recorded.
