YouTubers Criticized for Ignoring Safety Directives During Typhoon

BUSAN, Sept. 7 (Korea Bizwire)Amid efforts to protect lives from Typhoon Hinnamnor, inappropriate attempts to stage dangerous stunts on the coast are taking center stage for criticism.

Busan’s Haeundae Police Station on Tuesday penalized two YouTubers in accordance with the Punishment of the Minor Offenses Act who failed to adhere to official safety directives.

The YouTubers decided not to follow police instructions to evacuate from the coastal road located in Marine City area in the the port city when Typhoon Hinnamnor was about to hit the region Monday night.

They had been videotaping the massive waves with personal cameras.

The YouTubers were quickly brought to a safe zone by the police after sustaining mild injuries.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old foreigner was seen jumping into the ocean at Haeundae Beach on Tuesday morning.

The man returned to his hotel after police orders.

“I just wanted to go for a swim,” the man said.
