SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Yuhan-Kimberly announced on January 22 the launch of the groundbreaking ‘Huggies AI Fitting Room’ utilizing artificial intelligence, targeted at shoppers making purchases at its online mall, MomQ.
This service is designed to analyze and suggest the perfect diaper size for children, leveraging the capabilities of AI.
A representative from Yuhan-Kimberly explained that choosing the right diaper size is a common concern for all parents. Diapers that are too tight can cause skin irritation due to friction, while those that are too loose may lead to leaks.
This difficulty is compounded by the rapid growth and changing body shapes of babies. To address this, Huggies has trained its AI with over 500,000 images of babies wearing diapers, using accumulated data on baby body shapes and size satisfaction.
Before launching the service, the algorithm’s accuracy was validated through consumer surveys.
The ‘Huggies AI Fitting Room’ works by analyzing photographs of a baby wearing a diaper. Parents input basic information like the baby’s height and weight and then upload a photo.
The AI then divides the diaper’s side panel area (applied to Huggies’ pant-style diapers) into 100 data points for analysis and recommends the appropriate waist and thigh circumference.
The Yuhan-Kimberly spokesperson emphasized that although developing and maintaining the AI Fitting Room service requires significant investment and effort, it’s a ‘win-win’ model for both consumers and the company.
Through this interactive process, the company can accelerate product and service innovation. Yuhan-Kimberly also expressed their commitment to providing products and services tailored to domestic consumers, amidst the influx of imported goods.
