ST. PAUL, Minn. June 23, 2013 (Korea Bizwire)–3M Library Systems will introduce a new standard for eBook and eAudiobook lending with the newest version of its popular 3M Cloud Library patron app. The new app includes innovative features allowing users to personalize how they browse for content, along with an elegant new look and feel and the most intuitive interface on the market. The 3M Cloud Library app will be showcased at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference, June 26-July 1 in Las Vegas, NV.
The new 3M Cloud Library app features a completely redesigned interface with numerous options for patron personalization, allowing users to browse and check-out titles more easily than ever before. Along with improved aesthetics, 3M Cloud Library app users will have options to sort titles into personalized categories and flag favorite types of content. Terminology and feature descriptions have also been updated for ease of use, all of which will be available when new app begins rolling out in early August 2014.
“The 3M Cloud Library app still allows libraries to create custom shelves to promote content to patrons. However, now users can personalize which genres they browse on a regular basis allowing them to quickly find new content they are interested in,” said Tom Mercer, 3M Cloud Library Marketing Manager. “The combination of both library and patron customization tools means we have the most flexible interface to create a intuitive and elegant experience for the library user. A great app experience creates happy patrons, which in turn means more circulation and more users for the library.”
Along with an improved app experience, patrons continue to enjoy 3M Cloud Library’s expanded content with the addition of eight new publishing partners, bringing the platform’s total titles to more than 300,000 high-quality offerings. New partners include:
- Perseus Books Group brings an expansive collection of more than 30,000 titles
- Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, a leader in Spanish-language publishing and distribution
- Penguin Canada, with titles from best-selling authors including Khaled Hosseini, Emma Straub and Jojo Moyes
- McGraw-Hill offers a significant range of ratings, benchmarks and analytics content
- Encyclopædia Britannica, the leading encyclopedia publisher
- University of Texas Press, with works in a variety of fields including architecture, conservation and the environment, and film and media studies
- Editorial Egales, another top Spanish-language publisher
- Arte Publico Press, the nation’s largest and most established publisher of contemporary and recovered literature by U.S. Hispanic authors
“3M Cloud Library continues to secure content from publishing partners offering the titles patrons are most excited about,” said Mercer. “This quality-over-quantity approach helps libraries demonstrate the value of this powerful eReading tool.”
