SEOUL, May 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Three out of ten jobs are more than 70 percent likely to be replaced by job automation due to technological advances.
According to a report released by the Korea Information Society Development Institute on Monday, 32 percent of the jobs have a 70 percent chance of being replaced by technology.
Although specialized employment such as jobs in finance, management, and accounting, which generally require a lot of skill, were not at risk of being replaced, those with low-skilled jobs had a higher percentage of being replaced regardless of how the researchers analyzed.
When the researchers analyzed by job-base, the number of jobs with a potential of more than 70 percent of being replaced was 46.7 percent.
In this approach, individual workers in the same job category have the same job replacement potential for automation.
But using the job-based approach may result in different job replacement possibilities depending on the skills, abilities and characteristics of individual workers, even if they belong to the same job.
One of the researchers reported that although jobs that are likely to be replaced by automation will not cause social problems in a short period of time, people need to think about ways to respond to the changes that future technological innovation will bring.
