SEOUL, June 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The National Assembly has teamed up with the business and science communities to establish a forum to study the economics of environmental, social and governance (ESG).
The Embracing Nation ESG Forum held an inauguration ceremony at the building of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) in Yeouido, Seoul on Tuesday.
The forum will be composed of members of the ruling Democratic Party and representatives of the business and science communities, including the conglomerate lobby FKI and the country’s largest scientist’s group Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies.
They will study how to achieve sustainable growth through ESG.
“ESG will be concretized in a way that the science community enables sustainable growth through technology and the business community carries out ESG management,” said Lee Won-wook, a ruling party lawmaker who was appointed to lead the forum.
“The business community has strong will to pursue ESG management and the pace of adoption is sufficiently fast,” said Bae Sang-keun, executive director of the FKI, who was appointed as the forum’s operational co-chair.
