SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — A new species of horned dinosaur, discovered in South Korea in 2008, has been designated as a natural monument.
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it had designated the fossil of the Koreaceratops Hwaseongensis, discovered in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, as a natural monument.
It is the first time for a bone fossil, instead of footprints or eggs, to be designated as a natural monument.
The fossil was discovered by a Hwaseong city official while cleaning up a tide embankment area in Jeongok Port.
A professional probe found that the fossil was a new species of horned dinosaur, found for the very first time in South Korea.
