SEOUL, March 24 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday it will manage the entire process of construction projects by recording videos of construction sites, a first in South Korea.
To begin, 74 construction sites each with construction cost of more than 10 billion won will be recorded on a trial basis for one year, and after analyzing the effects of the trial, the scope of application will be expanded.
The videos will consist of three different types of recording. Bird’s eye view video recording will use fixed-type CCTV cameras and drones to record the construction process.
The primary recording will document the sequence of construction based on the floor plan, the method of construction and measurement from various angles.
The main targets include work that is hard to check after construction is finished, structural components, and high-risk work.
Close-up videos will feature the use of body cams and mobile CCTV cameras to record the detailed work process and the movement of workers.
These recordings will be able to serve as a type of black box that can be used as evidence when accidents occur.
Thus far, construction projects have been managed primarily through floor plans and pictures, making it difficult to identify the cause when accidents occur.
