TAEAN, Jun. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Taean County, South Chungcheong Province, will foster marine healing industries using major resources in areas such as peat bogs and mudflats.
The county said Tuesday that the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST), which is in charge of the “Taean Marine Healing Resources Survey”, has launched an investigation into marine healing resources in the county.
Last year, peat, healing resource, was discovered near the coast of Taean County for the first time in South Korea.
The research is aimed at establishing a database and operating a stable program of Taean Marine Healing Demonstration Center, which will be created in the future by examining the reserves, distribution locations and ingredients of the peat bogs and mudflats, which are Taean’s specialized healing resources.
The KIOST plans to investigate local peat and mudflat sites by May of next year and collect samples before presenting the ingredients and measures to utilize these resources.
Based on the results of the research, the county plans to lay scientific ground for the utilization of Taean’s marine healing resources.
It also plans to develop and implement detailed business plans to develop the marine healing industry, including the development of a healing program and the creation of a pilot marine healing center.
