SEOUL, Jan. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Tourism Organization said Tuesday it will begin a trial of a new service that provides information on the level of congestion at major tourist hotspots in Seoul.
The service can be accessed through a PC or mobile device via Visit Seoul, the official website for tourism in Seoul.
Using Seoul’s real-time city data, the service offers information on congestion, traffic, and weather at 24 tourist hotspots located in six major areas including Gwanghwamun, Myeongdong, Jamsil, Hongdae, Itaewon and Gangnam.
The degree of congestion is depicted in four different levels: empty, normal, light congestion and heavy congestion.
The service also offers recommendations on tourist destinations based on the traveler’s behavioral patterns, as well as information on various festivities being held in the city.
The tourism organization plans to make improvements based on feedback from the trial and bring the service to the forefront of Visit Seoul’s primary service.
It will expand upon foreign languages offered by the service including English, optimize the search engine, and make improvements to the quality of service.
