SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea ranks second on the “passport index,” according to a British consultancy specializing in investment migration.
Henley & Partners released a Global Mobility Report for the first quarter of 2023, in which Japan ranked first on the passport index.
The ranking was based on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) data to determine the most ‘powerful’ passport that can most easily travel around the world.
Japan was followed by South Korea and Singapore, which tied for second place.
South Koreans can easily enter 192 countries and territories through visa waivers, visa on arrival, and electronic visa programs.
The North Korean passport ranked 102nd, capable of entering 40 countries on a visa waiver program.
Afghanistan was ranked the lowest, capable of easily entering only 27 countries.
