SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The personal details of convicted criminals who remove their ankle montors will be exposed to the public, regardless of the type of crime they have committed.
The Ministry of Justice implemented the new rule last week, according to ministry officials.
Previously, only criminals that had committed felonies, including sexual violence, murder, robbery and kidnapping juveniles had their personal details exposed if they removed their ankle monitors illegally.
Under the new legislation, all criminals who remove their ankle monitors, regardless of the type of crime committed, will have their personal information revealed.
“A growing number of cases in which ankle monitors were removed led to an increased risk of repeat crime and felonies, promptine the change,” the ministry said in a statement.
