BUSAN, Jan. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — A South Korean company has developed a new system that allows for the real-time monitoring of logistics facilities using virtual reality (VR) technology, the Busan city government said Thursday.
Kuls, a logistics firm located in Busan, recently applied for a patent for its “VR-based logistics center monitoring technology and system” that was developed through an R&D project financed jointly by the city government and the ICT ministry.
The new system allows for 24/7 monitoring and control of logistics facilities through the use of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and smart devices, converting real-time data into a virtual space for easy access and management via a smartphone.
The city government plans to invest in the development of this technology for the yard operation of the logistics center in the hinterland of the Busan Port this year.
The goal is to enhance the stability and efficiency of such operations by establishing a real-time system monitoring system for container trucks, yard equipment and workers, ensuring smooth and seamless coordination, the city government said.
