SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korea Airports Corp., a state-run airport operator, has installed two automated bag drop machines in the domestic passenger terminal of Gimhae International Airport in southeastern South Korea, launching a trial service that started on Thursday.
The bag drop machines allow passengers to check their baggage by themselves without having to queue at a check-in desk. Thus far, passengers needed to rely on check-in staff to drop off their baggage.
From now on, passengers will be able to deal with the entire process on their own, from the issuance of boarding passes to boarding check-in procedures.
This service maximizes user convenience by using information technology such palm vein scanning and license authentication for personal identification.
The bag drop machines will be operated as manned or unmanned counters depending on the on-site situation.
