SEOUL, Apr. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — CJ Foodville, the restaurant arm of food and entertainment conglomerate CJ Group, said Monday its bakery franchise Tous les Jours will reopen five outlets in Cambodia this year under a contract with a new local partner.
CJ Foodville has signed a master franchise deal with Cambodia’s Express Food Group to establish a presence in the Southeast Asian nation’s food franchise market, the company said in a statement.
The bakery franchise reopened two stores in Phnom Penh last week, with the three others likely to be located in the capital city or its adjacent areas, a company spokesperson said.
Under a master franchise deal, the master franchisor allows the master franchisee not only to open franchise units itself in a specified area but also to sub-franchise them to third parties.
CJ Foodville entered the Cambodian market with the bakery brand in 2011 and operated dozens of outlets there until the COVID-19 pandemic under the previous master franchise deal with a local firm.
The Tous les Jours bakery brand operates more than 400 outlets in 7 countries, including the United States, Canada, Indonesia and Vietnam, and aims for expansion in Southeast Asian markets this year.
