SEOUL, Jun. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) is set to make a splash with its upcoming All-Star festivities. On July 5 and 6, the SSG Landers Field in Incheon will be transformed into a veritable water park, offering fans a unique baseball experience.
The KBO announced on June 23 that the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO All-Star Game will feature special programs designed to entertain both fans and players alike.
“One of the major changes this year is the introduction of a ‘Water Festival,’” a KBO official stated.
“Water cannons installed at the first and third base cheer platforms will shoot streams of water during key moments of the game, effectively turning the baseball stadium into a water park.”
The organization plans to provide free raincoats on a first-come, first-served basis to spectators seated in designated “water zones.”
The All-Star festivities will kick off on July 5 with All-Star Friday.
At 6 p.m., the Futures All-Star Game will pit the Northern League (Hanwha Eagles, Doosan Bears, LG Twins, SSG Landers, and Goyang Heroes) against the Southern League (Sangmu, Lotte Giants, KIA Tigers, kt wiz, NC Dinos, and Samsung Lions).
To encourage creativity among up-and-coming players, the KBO has introduced a new Best Performance Award for the Futures All-Star Game.
Following the Futures game, eight power hitters from the KBO’s top league will compete in the Home Run Derby. Participants for this event will be selected entirely through fan voting.
The main event on July 6 will feature the KBO League’s biggest stars. The Nanum All-Stars (LG, NC, KIA, Hanwha, and Kiwoom) will face off against the Dream All-Stars (kt, SSG, Doosan, Lotte, and Samsung) at 6 p.m.
Pre-game activities will include fan autograph sessions and a “Summer Race” involving young fans.
The KBO is also setting up various attraction zones in the plaza outside SSG Landers Field.
These will include sponsor booths, baseball experience zones, and photo opportunities, offering fans a chance to engage in diverse activities and potentially win prizes.
