SEOUL, July 24 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Uplus, a major South Korean telecommunications company, announced on July 24 that it will introduce its web-based in-vehicle gaming service, Game Portal, to Kia’s new EV3.
This marks the first time the Game Portal service will be available in a domestic brand vehicle in South Korea.
According to LG Uplus, the key advantage of Game Portal is its accessibility. Drivers and passengers can easily play games on the vehicle’s built-in display without the need to download additional applications.
The Game Portal service will feature eight popular games from the mobile game developer Mobrix, including “Tower Defense King,” “Brick Breaker Quest,” and “Marble Mission.”
Users can access these games by logging into the Kia Connect Store website and purchasing the digital specifications for arcade games.
LG Uplus has optimized the gaming experience for the Kia EV3, adjusting game screens to fit the vehicle’s display dimensions and fine-tuning performance and user interface to match the car’s computing specifications.
This integration allows for seamless gameplay without the need for additional devices like smartphones.
Prioritizing safety, the gaming feature will only be operational when the vehicle is stationary, such as during charging sessions or while parked. The system is designed to prevent gameplay while the car is in motion.
LG Uplus revealed that the development of Game Portal was driven by the anticipation of a future dominated by fully autonomous vehicles. The company envisions cars evolving into gaming platforms and plans to expand the service to other Kia models in the future.
Kang Jong-oh, Vice President of Mobility Business at LG Uplus, emphasized the company’s commitment to leading the market by leveraging its existing car infotainment capabilities. “We are striving to pioneer the market by launching gaming services based on our accumulated car infotainment expertise,” Kang stated.
