SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean telecom giant KT Corporation has announced a breakthrough in corporate networking technology with its new “lightweight 5G business network” solution.
The company revealed on August 15 that this innovation aims to alleviate the burden of infrastructure construction for businesses and public institutions.
The 5G business network service is designed to replace traditional wired infrastructure with a secure 5G wireless network, enabling employees to work from anywhere at any time.
KT’s latest offering takes this concept further by introducing a more cost-effective and streamlined approach.
At the heart of this new solution is “network slicing” technology, which allows a single physical network to be divided into multiple virtual networks.
This advancement eliminates the need for additional equipment while still providing dedicated networks to client companies.
Security remains a top priority in the design. Core equipment responsible for service authentication, control, and data encryption is installed on-site at the client’s premises, ensuring a high level of data protection.
One of the most significant advantages of this lightweight solution is its cost-effectiveness.
KT claims it can provide the same level of intranet service as traditional 5G business networks at 60% lower infrastructure costs.
Lee Jong-sik, Head of KT’s Network Research Institute, expressed optimism about the new service.
“We expect the lightweight 5G business network service to meet the needs of corporate customers who simultaneously pursue enhanced security and infrastructure efficiency,” he said, adding, “KT guarantees the safety of customer data as our top priority by applying the latest security technology, and we will continue to raise the level of service through ongoing differentiation.”
