SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung C&T, a major player in South Korea’s construction industry, announced on October 9 the launch of its new building platform, Bynd, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into digital space innovation.
The platform integrates various services essential for commercial buildings, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing. Bynd aims to interconnect building infrastructure, facilities, and electronic devices, creating a seamlessly integrated system.
“Our goal with Bynd is to revolutionize the spatial experience of modern individuals who spend considerable time in buildings engaged in diverse activities,” said Cho Hye-jung, head of the DxP Business Division at Samsung C&T.
Bynd offers approximately 100 services, including smart access, seat and meeting room reservations, and in-building retail ordering and payment systems. The platform is accessible through multiple interfaces such as a dedicated mobile app, digital twin kiosks, and web portals.
A key feature of Bynd is its user-centric approach, combining individual services to create novel experiences. For instance, visitors can use a single QR code for building entry and parking registration, while meeting rooms automatically adjust lighting and temperature before scheduled meetings.
The platform also incorporates digital twin technology for building control and management. Facility managers can monitor and control various systems including fire safety, electricity, and lighting, as well as manage energy consumption and environmental conditions in real-time.
To improve and expand the platform’s capabilities, Samsung C&T has formed partnerships with several tech companies. These include Team Naver for generative AI, AWS Korea and Megazone Cloud for cloud services, and AqaraLife for Matter-based AIoT solutions. The company has also collaborated with Ajou Design Group to integrate the platform with interior design expertise, targeting the smart building market.
This launch follows Samsung C&T’s introduction of Homeniq, a home-use platform, last year. The company views these platforms as key to expanding its soft business domain, moving beyond traditional construction-centric operations.
