BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – China’s foreign ministry said Tuesday that work is in progress to remove part of the steel structures built in the overlapping waters of the Yellow Sea with South Korea.

A Chinese company is carrying out the work related to removing the management platform, an autonomous operation in progress led by the company in line with its management and development needs, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said in a regular press briefing.

Beijing’s announcement came as South Korea and China have been in talks to resolve the issue of China’s establishment of three steel towers in the overlapping sea zone.

Following the summit talks in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier this month, President Lee Jae Myung said China was expected to remove one of the three steel platforms from the Yellow Sea.
