SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it will start global sales of a new commercial e-paper display for businesses made with bio-based materials, featuring high resolution and low power consumption.
The 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper comes with an ultraslim design with a thickness of 17.9 millimeters and weighs 0.9 kilogram, including the battery, the South Korean tech giant said in a release.
“The paper-thin display uses advanced digital ink technology and ultralow power to offer businesses a practical alternative to traditional printed signage,” the company said in a release.
The company said users can manage the display with a smartphone application without the need for a separate remote control.
The new display does not consume any power when the image remains unchanged.
“By incorporating innovative technology, such as phytoplankton-based bio-resin, we are demonstrating our commitment to advancing both display technology and the materials behind it,” Kim Hyoung-jae, vice president of Samsung’s visual display business, said in the release.
According to separate research conducted by industry tracker Omdia, Samsung Electronics accounted for 36.2 percent of global digital signage shipments in the third quarter of 2025.
