SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) – In the early 1980s, when overseas travelling was not common in Korea, one had to go to Namdaemun Market or Itaewon to purchase a wheeled suitcase for travelling. To remember such history, the Seoul Metropolitan Government set up a large-sized traveler monument with a red traveling suitcase on August 31.
Located at exit number 1 of Itaewon station, the 4 meter x 2.8 meter tall monument will be used as a tourist information center for foreign travelers during the day, and a street lamp at night. The city expects the monument to become an icon representing Itaewon as a must-visit place for tourists to take a photo.
