SEOUL, Feb.1 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics’ ‘M Project’ is gathering public attention as part of the company’s corporate intellectual platform known as MOSAIC.
According to Samsung Electronics, a five-person ‘Smart Bathroom’ team who met through MOSAIC developed an application called ‘Pooroject’. The name is, unsurprisingly, an amalgamation of the words ‘poo’ and ‘project’.
Team officials commented that concept of a ‘smart bathroom’ is not new technology. They explained that existing technology was put together using each of the team members’ strengths, creating something very innovative.
The principle of the Smart Bathroom is simple.
The idea was derived from the experience of turning away from the bathroom after realizing that all the stalls are occupied.
To realize the smart toilet, the team used the products of SmartThings.
The system consists of a sensor that detects the door, and a hub that collects the data from the sensor.
The ‘Pooroject’ app allows people to know the status of toilets being occupied.
A significant amount of effort was put in to user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Cute emoticons and an intuitive structure results in a user friendly experience.
The crowding of washrooms at certain hours is an everyday problem at many workplaces.
The developers commented that they wanted to solve small everyday problems using existing technologies, and thus came up with the application.
