SEOUL, Korea, Feb 28 (Korea Bizwire) – For those foreign tourists who want medical services in Korea, the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) plans to run a “Concierge Service” that picks them up at the airport to designated medical facilities.
From March this year, KTO will begin the full-fledged service at the Medical Tourism Information Center in Incheon International Airport for visiting tourists. Currently, it is on trial service.
The concierge service includes one-to-one service from picking up at the airport to the medical centers, guiding airport facility usage to booking medical services for those who applied for the service in advance.
A KTO official said, “The service will reduce the burden of local medical centers’ personnel and physical cost in transporting medical tourists..”
Last year, a total of 127,127 foreigners visited the medical tourism information centers across the country. Of these, 51,156 called the centers in the airport. Out of the 51,000 visitors for medical purposes, 47percent were from America and Europe, followed by Chinese (34%), Japanese (18%) and others including the Middle East and Russia (2%). They wanted information mostly on plastic surgery (60%) and oriental medicine (22%) and physical checkup (12%).
The KTO official added that the one-stop service linking the tourists from the airport to medical centers will provide convenience to them and help the centers improve service quality.
