SEOUL, May 20 (Korea Bizwire) – More than 80 percent of Korean tourists reported feeling uncomfortable at nude beaches when travelling overseas. Expedia, an online travel agency, conducted a survey on 11,155 tourists from 24 countries to arrive at the conclusion.
When asked for opinions regarding nude beaches, 81 percent of Korean tourists answered, ‘uncomfortable’, followed by Japan (75%) and Hong Kong (73%).
Conversely, European countries such as Austria (24%) and Germany (28%) were more comfortable with nude beaches and toplessness in general.
Three quarters of Koreans answered ‘yes’ when asked if they had travelled to a beach in the past year, topping the global average of 56 percent.
Around two-thirds of tourists visited beaches overseas, and the most travelled beach country was Japan (17%).
Regarding preparations for beach travel, 53 percent of Koreans answered that they bought new clothes or swimsuits, followed by exercise (35%) and diet (33%). The global average of tourists that chose exercise and diet was 43 percent. Waxing (8%) and tanning (10%) were found to be least important for Korean travellers.
