SEOUL, June 1 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korean Film Council (KFC) said Tuesday that it will hold a “K-Cinema Global Networking” event in Ho Chi Minh City this month to expand cooperation and exchanges in cinema between South Korea and Vietnam.
To be jointly held by the KFC and Vietnam’s culture ministry from June 22 to 24, the event will be composed of showcases for filmmakers, one-on-one business meetings, a forum for cinema industry development and a cinema exchange night.
Participating at the showcases for filmmakers will be South Korean producers from CJ E&M, NEW and Ocon, according to the Korean council.
CJ E&M co-produced the Vietnamese remake of a popular South Korean movie, while NEW produced the South Korean mega-hit TV drama “Descendants of the Sun.”
Ocon Co. is one of the two co-producers of popular South Korean animated character Pororo.
During the three-day event, the KFC will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vietnamese culture ministry for the cooperation of the two countries’ film industry.
In the MOU will be South Korean efforts to establish a combined electronic network for cinema admission tickets that can help the local film industry.
Also to be included are South Korea’s support for the establishment of policies to promote Vietnamese movies and exchanges of film information.
