SEOUL, July 19 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea’s financial watchdog on Tuesday published special guidebooks on daily financial services for Filipino and Cambodian residents here, in a bid to help foreign workers and spouses suffering language barriers and cultural differences.

There were around 1.74 million foreigners living in South Korea as of last year, 54.7 percent of whom were from China, 11.5 percent Vietnam, 4.2 percent the United States, 4.1 percent the Philippines, 2.7 percent Cambodia and 2.3 percent Indonesia, according to the Financial Supervisory Service.

The handbooks are available in the Filipino and Cambodian languages, along with Korean, offering information on financial services, including remittance and insurance for foreigners.

They will be distributed to banks, and training and support centers for foreign workers and multicultural households, as well as available to view and download on the FSS’s website (edu.fss.or.kr).

The FSS issued similar handbooks in Chinese and Vietnamese last year.
