SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean boy band BTS’s music video for their latest single, ‘DNA’, has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube less than four weeks after its launch, making the band the fastest K-pop group to hit the 100 million milestone on the video giant’s platform.
According to a Thursday statement from Big Hit Entertainment, the agency behind the internationally popular K-pop group, the video for DNA, the title song from BTS’s fifth EP ‘Love Yourself: Her’, had garnered over 100 million views as of Thursday night, only 24 days after the video was released.
It’s the first time any K-pop group has attracted so many views within such a short time period, a telling sign of the breadth of BTS’s international fan base.
DNA is the group’s eighth video to reach 100 million views on YouTube, following in the footsteps of FIRE, Save ME, Not Today, and DOPE, which has been watched over 200 million times so far.
In line with the lyrics of the song, which describe a strong relationship with keywords like fate and destiny, the video centers around the concept of virtual reality and outer space to best convey the message of the song visually.
