SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — A considerable part of the revenue generated by small restaurants and bars in South Korea comes from food delivery apps, a survey showed Thursday.
The Small Enterprise and Market Service conducted a survey of 300 small restaurants and bars, which showed that they had used delivery apps for an average of 3.1 years, and use an average of 2.5 different delivery apps simultaneously.
Sales coming from food delivery apps accounted for 69.3 percent of total sales.
By order of popularity, small restaurants and bars were most likely to use Baedal Minjok (92 percent), followed by Yogiyo (65.3 percent) and Coupang Eats (57.7 percent).
Respondents were least satisfied with the service provided by Baedal Minjok (3.04 points). Yogiyo scored 3.42 points, public delivery apps 3.33 points and Coupang Eats 3.26 points.
At 78 percent, the vast majority of small restaurant and bar owners responding to the survey said they had experienced difficulties arising from bad reviews.
Difficulties included blaming the restaurant for what the consumer did, bad reviews and unreasonable demands in exchange for a review.
Only 8.3 percent of small restaurants and bars have received support from delivery app companies.
