SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it will introduce the first LED theater solution in Europe that does not need projectors and improves resolution compared with traditional movie screens.
The announcement comes some four months after the South Korean tech giant installed the first cinema LED screen at a major theater chain in Seoul.
Samsung said under the agreement with Switzerland-based theater chain Arena Cinemas, the installation will be completed by February next year, with the official opening slated for March.
The company said it will continue to release the solution around the globe next year, including the United States and China.
An official from Samsung said the goal is to install the LED displays in 10 percent of the world’s theaters by 2020.
Samsung claimed the system’s display quality matches that of premium TVs designed for households, with the audio system by Harman International Industries providing realistic sounds.
