SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ho Chi Minh City – Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2017 successfully ended its 23-day run on December 3.
With “Mutual Prosperity in Asia Through Cultural Exchange” as the headlining theme, the event was co-hosted by Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province and Ho Chi Minh City. As of December 2, 3.77 million visitors had attended, which led the organizing committee to project a final attendance tally of 3.85 million.
A total of 43 different programs encompassing films, exhibits and performances were part of the event’s attractions. In addition, 8,000 artists and performers from all over the world participated in the expo.
Before the closing ceremony on December 3, the governor of North Gyeongsang and the city chairman of Ho Chi Minh City agreed to a friendship agreement between the two jurisdictions, promising exchange and cooperation regarding culture, education, healthcare, agriculture and more.
While taking into consideration the current administration’s “New Southern Policy” and the preferred destinations for foreign travel of ASEAN country citizens, North Gyeongsang will examine the possibility of staging its next expo in Northern Europe.
