SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwie) — South Koreans’ positive perception towards small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was far lower than large conglomerates, a business association said Monday.
In an October survey of 1,000 people aged 20 or older, the Korea Federation of SMEs found that their positive perception towards SMEs stood at 51.4 points, down from 54.0 from a year earlier.
Their positive perception level towards SMEs was much lower than the 71.5 points given to conglomerates, the survey showed.
In particular, the positive perception among the respondents in their 20s and 30s stood at just 47 points compared to 57.5 among those in 60s or older, it said.
Low wages, long working hours and generally fewer benefits turned out to be the main reasons behind the low perception towards SMEs, the federation said.
