SEOUL, Feb. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – The K-pop girl band GFriend will debut in Japan in May, its label said Friday.
The six-member band is set to sign a contract with King Record Co., a major Japanese record company, to make inroads into the country, Source Music said.
The group has recently opened an official Japanese website.
Since its debut in 2015, GFriend has produced such hit songs as “Glass Bead,” “Me Gustas Tu,” “Navillera,” “Fingertip” and “Summer Rain.”
In 2015, Billboard named the group as one of the “Top 5 K-Pop Artists to Watch in 2015.”
The girl band will embark on a tour in Asia titled “Season of GFRIEND” that will start from Taiwan on Feb. 28 and go to Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
